A note about newsletters... I send out my art e-newsletter four times a year to you, my friends and acquaintances, to keep you up to date with my adventures in art and aware of upcoming exhibitions and open-studio opportunities. (Please find previous newsletters archived on my website.) With this newsletter I am moving my e-distribution list from a PC to a MAC. Although I have spent hours removing duplicate addresses and trying to avoid errant inclusions, some glitches may ensue. If you receive this in duplicate, or receive this in error, please forgive me. Let me know and I will fix the problem.

GALLERY 110 Seattle, Washington

Invitation-only preview: September 30, 6-8 pm
Public opening: October 1, 2009 (First Thursday)

I am preparing for a solo show in October at the Gallery 110, in downtown Seattle. You are invited to the invitation‐only preview (vernissage) on the evening of September 30th, 6‐8 pm. The official opening is “First Thursday” October 1, 6‐9 pm. The exhibition, my first solo show in Seattle, will be a general introduction. It will include my best work from several series begun since my last large show in May 2007: the Paris in Winter series, Island Paintings (Quadra and Tofino), Paintings of the Sun (landscapes of Greece, Provence and Spain) as well as a sampling new works in my ongoing series of the Burrard Inlet (Ships, Mountains & the Sea).

In addition I will include a small sampling of works from two new series: View from the Forest: Kite‐boarders (Nitinaht Lake) (below) and the new Nocturnes series (vertical pair below).

View from the Forest - Kiteboards II, Nitinaht Lake - Vancouver Island, 2008

Nocturne - Foggy Night/Spanish Banks II, View
from Brock House, 2009

Nocturne - Cypress Mountain III, 2009

TOFINO

I spent three weeks with Lyne in Tofino during her month‐long sabbatical. We enjoyed walks, cooking, visits from friends (from Montreal and Manchester) and time to work (Lyne) and paint (me). I began a new series: “Views from the Lodge/Cottage”. More on that series in the future.

Meanwhile, have safe holidays this summer and let's enjoy the good weather while it lasts! Best, David
