Newsletter October 2023

Greetings from Vancouver! Thanks to all those who came to my exhibition, The Inlet, the last two weeks in September. There was no reception, but I saw lots of visitors – old friends and colleagues – new friends who saw images, heard by word of mouth or were just walking past on Dunbar. Thank you all for your kind words about my paintings. For those who live far away or otherwise couldn’t make it to the show, I hope you will see photos of the installation.

Ways to get together this fall. If you were out of town in September and could not make the show, come to my “Studio 1610” that I share with colleague Michael Abraham. It is a large, well-ventilated space near the corner of 1st Avenue and Clark Drive in Vancouver. Thiessen Art Services just rehung the studio display to museum standards. We can visit together, enjoying coffee, tea or a glass of Pinot Noir.

Join the throngs of art aficionados visiting during the 2023 East Side Culture Crawl November 16-19, 2023.
•Thu/Fri: 5pm-10pm
•Sat/Sun: 11am-6pm

Drop in to one of the three scheduled Studio 1610 previews that I will be holding:
•Saturday November 11th + Sunday November 12th: Noon-4pm
•Wednesday November 15th evening: 5-8pm

Schedule a quiet private tour. Contact me and let’s plan a day & time convenient to your schedule.

NB: I will be showing a sampling of the Puppet Masters/Angry White Men series in anticipation of the January exhibition in Seattle’s Gallery 110. Interesting that there are many Canadians who are driving the hatred and evil of the white nationalist organizations. Two works from the series were chosen by Jurors for the Eastside Culture Crawl’s preview exhibition: “Out of Control”. One is hanging in the Cultch Theatre Gallery, the other in the Pendulum Gallery in downtown Vancouver.

With great affection and respect, David
